Public Complaints Committee Training
Committee members of the Public Complaints handling committee underwent training on their new roles to enable them effectively manage complaints in the workplace.
The one-week training was officially opened by the Secretary Administration Madam Kula Hache on behalf of the Principal Secretary Dr. Idris Salim Dokota who emphasized the importance of the exercise in meeting performance contract obligations of the State Department and also ensuring that citizens are served efficiently and effectively.
The team was taken through various topics that included Access to Information, Citizen Service Delivery Charters and Resolution of Public complaints.
The training that was held in Naivasha was facilitated by the Commission on Administrative Justice officers. They urged the committee to take the new role seriously and treat complaints as a ‘gift’ to the State Department as it gives a glimpse into their operations by pointing out gaps in service delivery that have to be filled to achieve customer satisfaction or exceed their expectations.
The committee developed a draft policy and a workplan that will ensure their roles are anchored on laid down guidelines and operated within the confines of the law. The draft policy will be submitted to the Principal Secretary for approval before implementation of the workplan.
