PS Dokota Represents Deputy President at the Nairobi International ASK Show 2025

The Principal Secretary in the State Department for Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Idris Salim Dokota, PhD, CBS, represented Deputy President Hon. (Prof.) Kithure Kindiki, EGH, at the fourth day of the Nairobi International Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show 2025, held at the Jamhuri Park Showground.

In delivering the Deputy President’s keynote message, Dr. Dokota reaffirmed the Government’s steadfast commitment to fostering coordination and collaboration across state agencies, improving public service delivery, and ensuring that all national development programmes remain citizen-centered and results driven.

Speaking on behalf of the Deputy President, PS Dokota underscored the central role that the State Department for Cabinet Affairs continues to play in ensuring seamless coordination within the Executive Office and across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). He emphasized that efficient governance, anchored on transparency, accountability, and performance-based results, remains at the heart of President William Ruto’s administration.

“The Government remains steadfast in delivering a governance system that is accountable, transparent, and focused on improving the lives of all Kenyans,” Dr. Dokota affirmed. He noted that the Nairobi International ASK Show continues to serve as a vital national platform for showcasing Kenya’s progress in agricultural transformation, innovation, and youth empowerment key pillars that underpin the country’s long-term development agenda.

Dr. Dokota lauded the ASK Show’s long-standing contribution to technological innovation, agribusiness competitiveness, and knowledge exchange among farmers, entrepreneurs, and research institutions. He observed that Kenya’s agricultural sector remains the cornerstone of the national economy, employing millions and driving food security and export growth. He further called upon youth and women to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the Agri-value chain, from modern farming technologies to Agri-fintech innovations, emphasizing that inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods are essential to realizing the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

While delivering the Deputy President’s remarks, PS Dokota highlighted several priority areas guiding the Government’s policy agenda: deepening collaboration with the private sector, research institutions, and development partners to accelerate innovation and investment, strengthening food security through support for farmers, value addition, and adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices, enhancing accountability and transparency across all levels of government to build public trust and ensure efficient resource utilization and  empowering youth and women through entrepreneurship programmes, training, and access to financial support.

He reiterated that under the leadership of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, the State Department for Cabinet Affairs continues to coordinate and monitor the implementation of government programmes to ensure that policies are effectively translated into measurable outcomes for citizens. 

Dr. Dokota further observed that the success of Kenya’s development agenda depends on maintaining a whole-of-government approach, where all state organs, counties, and non-state actors work in synergy. He reaffirmed that the State Department for Cabinet Affairs remains committed to advancing a responsive, inclusive, and citizen-focused public administration. “The Nairobi International ASK Show is not only a celebration of our agricultural excellence it is a demonstration of Kenya’s resilience, innovation, and the collective spirit that drives our national transformation,” he stated.

The State Department for Cabinet Affairs, under the Executive Office of the President, plays a critical role in facilitating the smooth functioning of Cabinet business, coordinating cross-government programmes, and promoting effective communication between ministries and agencies to ensure the realization of the Government’s development priorities. Through collaborative leadership and institutional reforms, the Department continues to support the Deputy President in driving policy coherence, strategic alignment, and efficient service delivery across the public sector.
